Gillian Thompson

Gillian Thompson is a seasoned leader in the secondary mortgage market with over 25 years of experience managing interest rate risk and directing capital markets efforts for financial institutions. She has a proven track record of building platforms, securing investor relationships, and structuring strategies to access and optimize secondary market opportunities, including agency approvals with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Ginnie Mae.

Currently serving as Managing Director of Capital Markets at STG Mortgage, Gillian develops and executes loan trading solutions, leveraging her extensive expertise in trading, securitization, and hedging to design innovative workflows and automated processes. Her prior roles include EVP, Director of Capital Markets at Cypress Mortgage Capital, where she led the correspondent lending division, and SVP at Computershare Loan Services, where she established and expanded the capital markets platform.

Throughout her career, Gillian has demonstrated strengths in building operational processes, managing securitization platforms, implementing sophisticated pricing models, and overseeing government agency relationships. She is also recognized for her expertise in loan-level gain/loss analysis and market trend evaluation.

Gillian holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, as well as a Real Estate Salesperson License from the California Department of Real Estate. She is an active member of the Mortgage Bankers Association Secondary and Capital Markets Committee and other professional organizations.
