Beware of Mail Scams After Closing

Protect Yourself from Misleading Mortgage Mail

If you’ve recently closed on your home loan with STG Mortgage, you may begin receiving letters in the mail that look urgent or official. While some may appear legitimate, many are solicitations or scams sent by third-party companies trying to take advantage of new homeowners.
These companies often use publicly available records to make their mail look convincing—but they are not affiliated with STG Mortgage.

How to Spot a Scam or Misleading Mail

Be cautious of letters that:

  • Use urgent language like “Immediate Response Required” or “Final Notice
  • Request payment for services you didn’t ask for
  • Ask for personal or financial information
  • Appear to be from generic companies such as:
    • “Mortgage Service Center”
    • “Mortgage Protection Center”
    • “Your Mortgage Servicer”
    • These names are intentionally vague and designed to appear official.

Important: What STG Mortgage Will (and Will NOT) Do

All official communication from STG Mortgage will include:

  • Return Address: 18401 Von Karman Ave, Suite 440, Irvine, CA 92612
  • Phone Number: 833-784-5626
  • Email: loanservicing@stgmortgage.com
  • NMLS Identification clearly displayed: #2091912
    • All mortgage communications and advertising are required to include a valid NMLS ID number. You can verify STG Mortgage, or any licensed company or individual, by visiting the NMLS Consumer Access Website.

If any of this information is missing or doesn’t match, it is not from STG Mortgage.

What We Will NEVER Require

STG Mortgage does not require you to purchase:

  • Mortgage life insurance
  • Credit insurance
  • Home warranties
  • Any third-party protection plans after closing

Any USPS mail or email suggesting these are required as part of your loan is misleading and false.

Why You’re Receiving These Letters

After your loan closes, certain details (such as your name, property address, and loan amount) become part of public record through your local county recorder’s office.
Marketing companies and third-party vendors monitor these records and use them to send targeted mail that may look like it came from your lender.
